Shio is a pretty simple guy. He has no real inspirations, views or motivations, enjoying comfort far too much. He knows this is a boring way to live and joined the academy as a way to try and develop some kind of excitement and purpose in his life. Being an only child with parents who doted on him turned him into a pretty self motivated person. He is typically ignorant, missing even the most obvious hints thrown at him, often lost in some daydream. He is a relaxed person overall. It takes a lot to get him riled.

Shio is fearless, which could sometimes come across as thoughtless. He throws himself into whatever he is dedicated to, tending to be one track minded. He is very patient, adding to his overall relaxed demeanour, and tends to think outside of the box… sometimes forgetting what he’d actually thought straight after, much to his frustration. Shio isn't great with people. He lacks tact and can seem a little disinterested unless it's something exciting. His sense of humour can be dark and sometimes morbid. But he does enjoy conversation and isn't afraid to approach people. He likes to ask a lot of questions, and finds most things funny in one way or another. He likes teasing people, but he is definitely friendly.

He's aware he has been spoiled and wants to see the world some more, meet some interesting people, do some interesting stuff, and maybe become an interesting person himself one day. With Shio there’s an internal conflict of ideal self vs actual self. He wants to be someone great but his current personality and pampered lifestyle make this hard for him to try hard enough. It’s a work in progress.

Backstory:
Life has been plain and simple for Shio so far. He was born to two candlemakers and grew up in their cramped, but comfortable house somewhere in central Torogakure. While he took interest in their trade he wasn't passionate about it. He didn't want to be bland and uninterested his entire life and began to think about how he could change that. Even at a young age he was very self aware. He knew what he wanted.

As soon as he became of age he joined the academy. He was shy at first but soon warmed to the idea of getting along with people. Due to his lazy attitude he wasn't the best student. He'd daydream and lose track of the lessons, so a lot of his spare time was spent trying to figure out what he'd missed and then catching up. Somehow he'd always manage to get back on track. This carried on through both the minor and intermediate stages of training.

He never had any siblings to play with but he was never lonely, quite happy with the company of the rather grotesque little waxwork figures he learned to make as time went by. Sure he would talk with the others in class but it took him a long time to build enough social skill to actually befriend someone. It was plain sailing from then on and he was happy.

His parents gave him everything he wanted and in a way this spoiled him. He has always been disinterested in them and their support, which upsets them. Eventually Shio would graduate, much to his parent's surprise...

Onwards and upwards, he told himself.

Shio is growing up and bettering himself more and more each day. His close friends encourage him to do this. He is starting to break out of his old ways and work towards becoming someone worthwhile. Struggles more with his thoughts now than ever. Loses his closest friend in Arc 18/19, and another good friend around that time. Overcoming this grief is the next challenge on the list... he can't see past this at the moment.


Additional Information
- Really likes candles, especially scented ones. Candlelight soothes him somehow.
- Still crafts ugly little wax figurines for himself, sometimes makes them into uglier candles to make his home look weird.
- Likes reading academic writing rather than fiction.
- Really can't handle cold weather. It turns him into a sulky child.
- Lazy af, enjoys to smoke a kiseru pipe from time to time.
